Colin Mason, DMA is Professor of Music and Director of the Temple College/Texas A&M University-Central Texas Jazz Ensemble where he also teaches the Saxophone Studio, Jazz History, and is Lead Alto Saxophonist with the Temple Jazz Orchestra. He has taught at a variety of levels ranging from middle school through university and in addition, Mason founded and leads The Southwest Horns, a jazz saxophone ensemble comprised of jazz faculty at leading collegiate institutions, having presented clinics at several state music conferences as well as the 2005 IAJE Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA.

He has performed literally across the United States – from Maine to California, Florida to Washington - with Indian Tabla Artist Sandip Burman. Engagements included Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Regis University, Black Rock Center for the Arts, Washington, D.C., Washington and Lee University, University of Mary Washington, University of North Alabama, Morehouse State University, Atlanta, Murray State University, Tulsa University, Providence College, Middlebury College, Western Connecticut State University, Mansfield University, Penn State University – Beaver, PA, Mesa State College, Western Washington University, California State University-Bakersfield Jazz Festival, University of Alabama-Huntsville, and The University of Mississippi. Included in their touring schedule included clinics for numerous college and high school students.

Dr. Mason holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education with a Jazz Emphasis from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Music Degree in Saxophone Performance from Northern Arizona University, and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies Performance from San Diego State University.
