STEM Initiative - HSI LEADS Program
This program is for students participating in the HSI LEADS Program who are transferring from Temple College.
HSI LEADS is a STEM Initiative partnered with Temple College: Temple College and Texas A&M University have received a five-year grant to fund our newly created HSI LEADS "Above and Beyond" Program to ensure our students are positioned for continued STEM academic achievement and successful entry into high-demand STEM careers.
About this STEM Program
Nationwide, there is a growing demand for STEM professionals in the workforce, with a particular need for those from traditionally underrepresented groups. Temple College and Texas A&M University-Central Texas are Hispanic Serving Institutions serving Hispanic students and students from low-income backgrounds. These students, who represent growing populations at both TC and A&M-Central Texas, often show low enrollment in STEM degree programs, and remain underrepresented in STEM fields that can lead to higher-earning, high-demand careers.
To address this gap, Temple College and A&M-Central Texas, with funding support from the U.S. Department of Education, designed a project to increase the number of Hispanic and other low-income students pursuing and graduating with STEM degrees, allowing them to enter and succeed in high-impact STEM careers.
