From the design and implementation of modern accounting IT systems to the tools needed to find and fight fraud, the Accounting Information Systems and Control Certificate gives students sought-after knowledge in critical areas of accounting technology, including:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of computerized accounting systems, with an understanding of the specific needs for design, implementation, operation, control, and audit techniques of accounting IT systems.
  • The study of ethics as it relates to problems in business and economic decisions. Learn to integrate ethical reasoning, objectivity, independence, and other core values; analyze real-world ethical lapses from business and the accounting profession; and understand recent cases requiring use of business and accounting data to evaluate the ethical decision process.
  • The complete cycle of investigative auditing, including thorough study and evaluation of internal control, and corroborative evidence on the details of account balances. Students explore flow-charts, test planning, use of statistical samples, computer controls and management audits, and gain in-demand experience through team performance on an extended case audit.
  • The controls, issues and audit techniques needed when using computers as an auditing tool. Students use generalized audit software currently used in auditing practices, with a particular emphasis on computer fraud, security measures, and controls in advanced online, teleprocessing systems.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees for the undergraduate and graduate certificates are based on the number of credit hours taken per semester, and are approved for federal Title IV financial assistance.

Installment Payment Plan options:

A&M-Central Texas offers an Installment Payment Plan each semester to help you with paying for current-term balances. The IPP breaks your tuition and fees into four (for Fall and Spring semesters) or three (Summer semester) payments due throughout the semester, with a one-time, non-refundable service fee of $20 and the first installment due on the first day of class.
