Alexander Corbett leads a diverse career as a conductor and educator. He serves as Director of Orchestral Studies at both Temple College and Texas A&M University - Central Texas, where he conducts the Orchestra and teaches courses in Applied Violin, Applied Viola, Music History, Music Literature, and String Methods. He has previously taught at the University of Minnesota - Morris, College of Saint Benedict - Saint John’s University, and the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. He was also the Principal Conductor and Music Director of the Heartland Symphony Orchestra for three seasons.
A fervent advocate for young musicians, Corbett is in demand as a guest educator and conductor. His recent engagements include invitations to the Shattuck-Saint Mary's Pre-Conservatory, Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Concert, Bemidji State University, Texas UIL Solo and Ensemble Contests, Mississippi Strings Camp, Lakes Area Music Festival, Academie Musique of Central Texas, MNSOTA Orchestra Festival, MSHSL Solo and Ensemble Contests, and Bravo! Summer Music Academy.
Corbett earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance with Sally O’Reilly at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, where he was a Berneking Fellow and Graduate Assistant. Other influential teachers include Joanne Cohen, Mark Russell Smith, Lydia
