Beginning in the Fall 2025 semester, Texas A&M University–Central Texas is rewarding high-performing academic transfer students with a guaranteed merit scholarship.

The new scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement by guaranteeing up to $2,000 per year for three years for students who enter A&M–Central Texas with a 3.75 or higher cumulative grade-point average (GPA), or $1,000 per year for three years for students with a 3.5 to 3.74 GPA. Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Clifton W. Jones said the university is offering the scholarship to support transfer and recognize students who have excelled in their academics.

“We understand the pressures students face, and our university is committed to recognizing the hard work and dedication they show in their academic pursuits. Together we can build a strong and productive Central Texas,” Jones said.

As the state’s only upper-division university, A&M–Central Texas specializes in transfer students. The university works closely with its nine community college partners to make the transfer process easy for students. A&M–Central Texas is one of the most affordable universities in the nation. Coupled with the low tuition and fee structure at regional community colleges, students can earn a full bachelor’s degree for less than some universities charge for a single year.

“We are constantly trying to find ways to help keep the out-of-pocket costs for our students as low as possible, while providing a high-quality education,” Jones said.

A&M–Central Texas offers 30 undergraduate degree programs. Students can find transfer pathways that show exactly how their community college classes feed into the university’s programs. With these pathways, students will know what courses to take and be able to estimate how long it will take to complete their degree. The university also offers 20 graduate degree programs and 12 certificate programs for individuals looking for an immediate increase in employability.

A&M–Central Texas partners with Alamo College District, Austin Community College District, Blinn College District, Central Texas College, Dallas College, Lone Star College, McLennan Community College, Temple College and Texas State Technical College, making the transition to a four-year program seamless.
