Warrior Preview Day Welcomes Prospective Students and Guests to CampusAlmost 100 community members took advantage of an opportunity to explore A&M-Central Texas at Warrior Preview Day last Saturday, Oct. 5.

The event, designed to introduce potential students and their guests to the university and its many offerings included informational sessions about admissions, degree programs, financial aid opportunities, and one-on-one conversations with university faculty and staff about degree programs and available resources for students.

University President Richard M. Rhodes, Ph.D., joined by dozens of university staff members also in attendance, extended a warm welcome to the more than 50 potential new students and their guests gathered in the Bernie Beck Lecture Hall.

Coordinated by the university’s recruitment and enrollment office, Warrior Preview Day has been an important event prioritized as a part of the university’s scheduled outreach efforts in the last 15 years, designed to be an engaging, informative, and fun opportunity for potential students to experience all the university has to offer.

Loida Gonzalez Utley, Director of Recruitment and Enrollment, thanked the faculty and staff who came together to make the event a success, adding that knowing that more than 50 prospective new students and their guests responded to the open invitation to visit was proof that their planning and hard work paid off in a very important way.

“Everyone who works here at the university knows how special our mission is and how much we value making higher education affordable and accessible to Central Texas communities,” she said. “So, when we see so many potential new students and their families respond to an event like this, it really makes our day.”

Event organizers also pointed to the many positive responses the visitors to the campus offered, adding that they were impressed with the cozy environment, the small class sizes and student-to-faculty ratio that encouraged real and thoughtful exchanges during traditional coursework and degree studies.

Visitors also were impressed by the number of learning resources that are available for students, including a newly-revamped student learning center, tutoring, technology resources, and opportunities for student leadership and community service.
