A&M–Central Texas Celebrating Students During National Transfer Student Week

Texas A&M University–Central Texas is celebrating National Transfer Student Week (NTSW) Oct. 21-25 with several special events scheduled throughout the week. Initiated by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students (NISTS) in 2017, NTSW is a time set aside to recognize and celebrate transfer students and those who support their academic journey.

A&M–Central Texas is uniquely positioned to celebrate NTSW as all the university’s students are transfer students. As the only upper-division university in the state, A&M–Central Texas works with community college partners to offer affordable bachelor’s and master’s degrees that are relevant to the existing employment needs of state industries. As such, the university does not offer freshman and sophomore level courses. All students enroll at A&M–Central Texas with at least 60 credit hours from another institution.

“We obviously think transfer students are special, so participating in an event like this just gives us the opportunity to tell them how much they mean to us,” said Alba Cook, Executive Director of Enrollment Services and Strategic Initiatives. “We hope students will have a chance to relax and have a little fun as they participate in events throughout the week.”

Events scheduled for the week are:

  • Oct. 21: Donuts and Coffee in Founder’s Hall Lobby, 8 a.m.
  • Oct. 21: Snack table in Founder’s Hall room 318, all day.
  • Oct. 22: Find Your Advisor Scavenger Hunt for fun prizes, sponsored by the College of Business Administration, campus wide, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Oct. 22: Scavenger Hunt, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, Heritage Hall second floor, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Oct. 24: T-Shirt Swap, bring another college shirt and swap it for an A&M–Central Texas shirt, Founder’s Hall rooms 108, 218, 221
  • Oct. 25: Fall Fest, 6-9 p.m.

Friday’s Fall Festival from 6-9 p.m. will bring a spirited end to the week. This exciting time is open to the community, along with students and their families. Events will include Fall Festival activities such as apple dipping, arts and crafts, face painting, pumpkin carving, and more. University offices and departments will also provide trick-or-treat opportunities for children.

Students interested in enrolling at A&M–Central Texas are encouraged to contact the recruitment office at admissions@tamuct.edu.
