The University Police Department at Texas A&M University–Central Texas officially added another police officer to its ranks Wednesday afternoon when Officer Colin Christie took the oath of office.

Sharing the spotlight with Christie was Officer Joeliqua Williams, who promoted from Police Officer I to Police Officer II/Detective, and Joseph Gallegos, who promoted from a part-time security officer to a full-time Police Communications Officer.

Chief of Police Andrew Flores was excited to recognize the officers for their hard work and success, saying it’s been his pleasure to watch them develop and grow in their positions.

“We’re fighting the enemies you don’t see,” Flores said of his officers’ work. “We’re checking on you daily and making sure you’re okay. We want to make sure you have a safe environment to work, and make sure our students have a safe environment to learn.”

All of the officers have been associated with the UPD for some time. Christie has been with the department as a communications officer and Gallegos started part-time a little over a year ago. Williams completed all the requirements to be promoted to Police Officer II and is also working on a state certification to become an investigator. Flores said she will serve as the UPD’s investigator and detective.
