Dr. Michael Daley, Regents Professor and Social Work Department Chair at Texas A&M University–Central Texas, was recently appointed to the Commission on Educational Policy of the Council on Social Work Education.
The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is the national association that represents social work education in the United States and accredits professional social work programs. The Commission on Educational Policy “identifies pedagogical concerns in social work education, reviews current CSWE programs related to educational policy and planning, and periodically writes a statement of social work curriculum policy that is used to formulate CSWE's accreditation standards.” The Commission is currently doing an environmental scan of social work employment and developing education policy that should guide the next set of accreditation standards for social work education.
Dr. Daley recently completed a six-year term on the CSWE Board of Accreditation. The Board accredits social work programs in the US. In that role, he was a member of the Executive Committee, and chaired the Professional Practice Doctorate pilot accreditation committee, and the post-pilot Practice Doctorate Accreditation Standards writing committee.
