Alumni Awards

Over the years, we’ve heard of the amazing accomplishments of our alumni, and we believe in recognizing them because the true measure of a university’s greatness is reflected in their achievements. The Texas A&M University System and A&M-Central Texas know that we have developed leaders around the world who make extraordinary contributions to their communities and their professions, we look forward to receiving your nominations.

Purpose and Philosophy

The purpose of the Distinguished Alumnus program is to recognize the University’s alumni who have made significant contributions to society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations, and careers have honored the values of the University.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award does more than honor its recipients. It also further illustrates the great value of the academic programs and student involvement at A&M-Central Texas and increases the pride all former students, staff and faculty have for the University. The award program recognizes those men and women who demonstrate the power of the A&M-Central Texas experience to the people of Texas, the nation, and the world.

Criteria for Selection

Recipients will be accomplished in one or more areas as outlined below. This distinction will be reflective of A&M-Central Texas core values – Excellence, Respect, Community Service, Leadership, Integrity, and Innovation.

The three areas are:

  • Professional Achievement and Career or Military Service Distinction: The recipient attained prominence through his or her efforts in commerce, industry, technology, the professions, agriculture, the arts, education, government, military or other worthy endeavors that form a record of accomplishment impressive to the citizens of Texas and the nation.
  • Service to Society: The recipient exhibits integrity and a demonstrated commitment to service through an interest in bettering the lives of others through volunteer efforts.
  • Service and Support to A&M-Central Texas: The recipient’s deeds and actions reflect the importance of dedication, and loyalty to A&M-Central Texas, as demonstrated through their interest in and support of the Alumni Association, the University and its programs.

Award Descriptions

  1. Texas A&M University Central Texas Distinguished Alumni Award- recognizes alumni who have attained prominence in their profession or through their accomplishments within their industries communities, or through public service.
  2. Texas A&M University-Central Texas Distinguished Legacy Award – recognizes legacy (graduates of American Technological University, University of Central Texas, and Tarleton State University) alumni who have attained prominence in their professions or through their accomplishments within their industries, communities, or through public service.
  3. Honorary Alumni Award – is presented to a person who is not a graduate of TAMUCT or it’s legacy universities but who has earned this recognition and honor through deep loyalty, and service.

How to Nominate

To submit a nomination, please complete the nomination form and attach the following supporting documents:

  • Letter of nomination form (required)
  • Nominee’s current resume or CV (required)
  • Additional references, articles, press releases, or other media (strongly suggested)

About nominations:

  1. Nomination forms will be held for each individual for a period of three years. If an individual is not selected for the award, his or her Award Nomination Form may be updated and renewed by the original or other appropriate nominator for consideration in a subsequent year.
  2. No limitation will be placed on the total number of nominations accepted for consideration.
  3. Letters of support may be submitted by anyone.
  4. You can nominate yourself or someone you believe has demonstrated the award’s criteria.
  5. Nominations will remain confidential throughout the selection process.
