WarriorU: Increase Belonging, Success, and Completion
Welcome to *WarriorU, the innovative program at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, designed to enhance student success, belonging, and completion.
WarriorU focuses on supporting our at-risk communities and articulating our commitment to serving underrepresented and underserved student populations. Through various strategic initiatives designed to encourage academic achievement and foster a quality university experience, WarriorU aims to build a stronger sense of identity, belonging, and success among our students.
Target Area
WarriorU addresses the critical needs of our student population by providing valuable connections to internal support services and external social service resources. The related programs enhance campus activity, enrich campus culture, and nurture a strong sense of community. Designed to foster belonging, increase retention, and ensure student success, WarriorU helps establish meaningful connections for our students.

Key Program Activities
- Learning Assistance and Supplemental Instruction Programs
- Outreach through the CIVITAS Learning Early Alert program.
- Student Success Coaching and Peer Mentoring to provide personalized support.
- Supplemental instruction via embedded graduate level tutors.
- Student Campus Community Activities Board
- Engage students in campus life and promote a sense of community.
- Develop programming that invites community participation and partnerships
- SWAG (Supporting Warrior Academic Goals) Incentive Program
- Reward students for their participation and engagement in services and activities.
- Track/report student access to support services and seek continuous improvement.
- Badging Program Activities
- Recognize and incentivize skill development and achievements.
- ACUE Training for Faculty and Staff
- Focus on Teaching for Equitable Learning and Fostering a Culture of Belonging.
- Coordinated Campus and Community Resources
- Address basic needs such as food insecurity, medical/mental health, homelessness, family/legal issues, and financial literacy.
- Reduce student attrition by connecting them with essential social services.
- Digital Divide Initiative
- Address the technology gap that students face.
- Includes laptop lending, Wi-Fi hotspots, tech support and unfetter access to technology apps and programs.
- Provides training and information to support student learning (usage, maintenance, repair, online communication, cyber security and AI).
Annual Objectives
Over the five-year grant period, WarriorU aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Student Success and Completion Interventions
- Increase student participation in interventions annually.
- Increase retention rates for full-time and part-time students by Fall 2027.
- Student Belonging Services
- Ensure significant student participation in belonging services annually.
- Basic Needs Assessment and Orientation
- Ensure a high rate of incoming students complete the TAMUCT Student Basic Needs assessment and orientation on social service resources.
- Use survey data to inform and improve institutional responses to student needs.
Program Goals
- Increase Retention and Degree Completion
- Launch comprehensive Student Success and Completion interventions.
- Provide Learning Assistance, Supplemental Instruction, Early Alert, and Coaching/Mentoring.
- Enhance Student and Family Engagement
- Offer culturally responsive, integrated Student Belonging and Connection services.
- Implement the SWAG Incentive Program and Badging activities.
- Organize events stemming from ACUE Training and targeted campus activities.
- Support Basic Needs and Reduce Attrition
- Collaborate with community organizations to provide physical and mental health support, legal aid, and financial literacy services.
- Directly connect students with social services to address basic needs and help them navigate barriers.

WarriorU is a university wide initiative and a collaboration among several academic and student support offices, programs and departments. The effort is managed (monitored, tracked, assessed, and reported on) by the Warrior Center for Student Success (WCSS).
