The Campus Cupboard at Texas A&M University-Central Texas is a student-run pantry offering food and other essential items free of charge to students, staff and faculty.
According to Feeding Texas, 1 in 8 Texans experience food insecurity. The Campus Cupboard is there to ensure Warriors have access to food and supplies when they need it.
Student worker Rayza Castro says it is simple to access the cupboard and much like going to the grocery store. Warriors choose items, and a cupboard staff member will bag items for them.
Warriors with a university-affiliated ID can visit the first floor of Warrior Hall, Room 105 between 10 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. every other Friday to pick up supplies.
A staff member from Student and Civic Engagement (Warrior Hall, Suite 211) or University Police Department (Founders Hall, Room 103) can accompany anyone who needs assistance to the cupboard Monday-Friday from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
To keep the Campus Cupboard stocked with all the things a Warrior might need, staff rely on generous donations from the community. The most-needed items currently are household products like paper towels, bathroom tissue, wet wipes and diapers.
